Politechnika in Gliwice is the academic neighborhood of the Silesian University of Technology. This area, owing to some courageous urban investments around the campus and a successful cooperation with the abovementioned Silesian University of Technology, has lately become a very representative neighborhood of Gliwice. It attracts thousands of domestic and foreign visitors. Located in the southern part of the city, this neighborhood lies on the Kłodnica and the Bytomka River.
Zawodzie, in Katowice, used to be the former agricultural area, now very well connected to the city center and the neighboring cities of Sosnowiec and Mysłowice. Located on the right bank of the Rawa River, Zawodzie is also furnished with an interchange station enabling to use trams, trains and the nearby busses. Zawodzie is quite easily accessible for pedestrians, who can get there on foot, not only from the city centre.
The neighborhood of Pogoń, in Sosnowiec, is located in the western area of the city but however very frequently also considered as a central area. It concentrates the academic life of the city and is one of its oldest neighborhoods. Pogoń is full of contrasts, it combines the old and the new, the beautiful and sometimes the neglected. It is well communicated with the city center and the neighboring Będzin or Katowice. Two watercourses – Czarna Przemsza and Struga Pogońska flow through Pogoń.
