Amsterdam
Amsterdam’s pilot will focus on Buitenveldert, a residential neighborhood in the south of Amsterdam. In 2014 the local bus line 62 changed its route, increasing the distance for many people from their houses to the bus stops. This affected residents, especially elderly (65+) inhabitants, of which this area contains the highest percentage in the city. The elderly are also very vulnerable to loneliness and isolation and the new situation could lead to an increase of these issues. In general, there is the need to reduce the dependency on private transportation in favor of more sustainable solutions. The pilot will be coordinated by Waag Society [WAAG] and facilitated by the City of Amsterdam [AMST], both project partners.
