Palermo’s pilot will involve the neighborhood of the historic center and its population. This area, called Centro Storico, is almost 2,5 square kilometers wide, it hosts about 21.000 inhabitants and also the majority of the historic heritage and the touristic sites of the city. Here, more than in other parts of the city, traffic jams affect urban livability. Just recently, the Palermo Municipality decided to invest in mobility infrastructures and policies on this neighborhood: new limited traffic zones, a new bike sharing system, improvement of the car sharing service and public transports with the new tramway lanes, thus changing permanently the way citizens will experience the Centro Storico. The pilot will be coordinated by PUSH [PUSH] and facilitated by Comune di Palermo [CPA], both project partners.
